# Autopay

*Everyday Money — Finicade finance glossary*

Autopay authorises a company to pull a payment from your account on a schedule. It protects the single biggest driver of your credit score — payment history — and lenders often shave 0.25% off a loan rate for enabling it. The rule that makes it safe: autopay fixed, predictable bills (rent, loan payments, at least the minimum on cards) and review variable ones manually. Autopaying a variable bill in full removes the moment where you'd notice it doubled.
