# Carbon Footprint

A carbon footprint is total greenhouse gas emissions attributed to an entity, product or portfolio. For investors the relevant version is financed emissions: the share of investee company emissions attributable to your ownership stake. Portfolio footprints are usually normalised by revenue or enterprise value, and the choice of denominator changes rankings enough to matter for how a fund markets itself.
