# Choice Overload

*Behavioral Finance — Finicade finance glossary*

Choice overload is more options producing worse decisions or none at all. In retirement plans, participation falls measurably as the number of funds offered rises, and contributions default to whatever sits at the top of the list. It's the reason well-designed plans offer a short menu with a good default rather than a hundred funds and a brochure.
