*Crypto & Digital Assets — Finicade finance glossary*

A cryptocurrency is a digital asset secured by cryptography and issued on a blockchain rather than by a state. The category spans radically different things: a fixed-supply commodity like Bitcoin, a network fee token like ETH, a dollar claim like USDC, and thousands of tokens with no discernible purpose. Treating them as one asset class is the most common analytical error people make about the sector.
