# FICO Score

*Borrowing & Credit — Finicade finance glossary*

A FICO score is the specific 300–850 credit score used in the large majority of US lending decisions. Its weighting is public: payment history 35%, amounts owed 30%, length of history 15%, new credit 10%, credit mix 10%. Above roughly 760 you get the best pricing; below 620 most mainstream credit closes off. VantageScore is the competing model, and the free score your app shows is often that rather than the FICO version a lender will actually pull.
