# Financial Advisor

*Careers & Credentials — Finicade finance glossary*

Financial advisor is an unprotected title in most jurisdictions — it carries no required qualification by itself. What matters is underneath it: whether they're a fiduciary, how they're paid, and what credentials they hold. Three questions settle it quickly: are you a fiduciary at all times, how exactly are you compensated, and will you put both answers in writing.
