# Golden Cross

*Trading & Technical Analysis — Finicade finance glossary*

A golden cross is the 50-day moving average crossing above the 200-day, read as a bullish trend confirmation; the death cross is the reverse. Both are heavily covered in financial media, which gives them some self-fulfilling force. Both are also badly lagging by construction — by the time the cross occurs, a substantial part of the move has already happened.
