# Greenwashing

*ESG & Sustainable Finance — Finicade finance glossary*

Greenwashing is presenting an investment, product or company as more environmentally responsible than it is. It's the sector's central credibility problem and is now an enforcement priority: regulators have fined asset managers for overstating ESG integration, and funds have been forced to drop sustainability labels. The EU's SFDR categories and fund-naming rules exist largely to make the claims checkable.
