# Long-Term Care Insurance

*Insurance — Finicade finance glossary*

Long-term care insurance covers help with daily living — a care home, an aide at home — which health insurance and Medicare largely do not. It's the biggest uninsured retirement risk, with care costs running to six figures a year in some markets. The industry has been troubled: insurers systematically underpriced early policies and then imposed steep premium increases on holders too old to switch.
