# Mempool

The mempool is the waiting room of unconfirmed transactions each node holds before they're included in a block. Because it's public, everyone can see what's about to happen — which is precisely what makes front-running possible, since a bot can spot your pending trade and pay a higher fee to be ordered ahead of it.
