# Minimum Viable Product

*Startups & Venture Capital — Finicade finance glossary*

An MVP is the smallest thing you can build that tests whether the core assumption is true. The word doing the work is viable: it must deliver enough value that customer behaviour towards it is informative. The common failure is building a small version of the full product instead of a targeted test of the riskiest assumption, which takes just as long and answers nothing.
