# Renters Insurance

*Insurance — Finicade finance glossary*

Renters insurance covers your possessions and your liability in a home you don't own — the landlord's policy covers the building, not your belongings. It's among the cheapest insurance available, often under $200 a year, and it includes liability cover and additional living expenses if the property becomes uninhabitable. The most under-appreciated part is that it usually covers your things anywhere, not just at home.
