# Whale

*Crypto & Digital Assets — Finicade finance glossary*

A whale is a holder large enough that their trades move the market. Because balances are public, whale wallets are tracked continuously and their movements to exchanges are read as sell signals. Concentration is extreme in most tokens: for many, a handful of addresses hold the majority of supply, which makes reported market capitalisation largely theoretical.
