Dividend Aristocrat

A Dividend Aristocrat is an S&P 500 company that has raised its dividend every year for at least 25 consecutive years. The screen is a proxy for durable cash generation and management discipline, and the group has historically shown lower volatility than the index. The weakness is that it is backward-looking by construction: a company is removed only after it cuts, which is exactly when the damage is done.
