Dodd-Frank Act
Also called: Dodd-Frank, Wall Street Reform Act
Dodd-Frank was the 2010 US response to the financial crisis: central clearing for standardised derivatives, the Volcker Rule, living wills for large banks, stress testing, and the creation of the CFPB. It's the most substantial financial regulation since the 1930s and has been partially rolled back for mid-sized banks — a change often cited after the 2023 regional bank failures.
