Double Top

Also called: double bottom, M pattern, W pattern

A double top forms when price reaches a level twice and fails to break it, with the second failure read as exhaustion; a double bottom is the mirror image. The interpretation is straightforward — supply overwhelmed demand at the same price twice. Confirmation conventionally requires a break of the intervening low, which by design means acting after a meaningful part of the move.
