Also called: Federal Open Market Committee, Fed meeting, dot plot
The FOMC is the twelve-member committee that sets US monetary policy, meeting eight times a year. Markets trade the meeting itself far less than the accompanying statement, projections and press conference — the dot plot of members' rate forecasts routinely moves yields more than the decision. Minutes follow three weeks later and are themselves a market event.
