Tax-Advantaged Account

A tax-advantaged account shelters investments from some or all tax — deferring it until withdrawal, eliminating it entirely, or both. Retirement accounts, health savings accounts and education accounts are the main types. The order in which you fill them matters more than the investments inside them: an employer match, then a health savings account, then the rest is the standard priority because each is a guaranteed return.
