It's busy season and ten client files are on your desk. Each has draft accounts, a file note with what the team found, and a materiality threshold. If the accounts are fairly stated, sign them clean. If they aren't, click the two accounts the correcting entry touches and enter the amount: every correction moves exactly two lines. Some files are clean, one has an error too small to matter, and a few come with pressure to sign. Every file costs hours you don't have many of. Sign a materially wrong set of accounts and your reputation pays for it; lose it entirely and you're struck off.
Ten client files, one deadline. Find what's wrong, post the correction, and never sign a set of accounts you know is misstated.
