Day Trading
Also called: intraday trading, day trader, pattern day trader
Day trading opens and closes positions within a single session, holding nothing overnight. The academic evidence is consistent and harsh: studies across markets find that the large majority of active day traders lose money, with only a small fraction profitable over multiple years. US rules also require $25,000 of equity to day trade a margin account frequently, which is a barrier and, arguably, a filter.
