Debit Card
Also called: check card, bank card
A debit card spends money you already have, drawing directly from a checking account. The differences from credit that matter are legal rather than practical: fraud protection is weaker, disputed funds leave your account while the claim is investigated, and debit purchases build no credit history. Debit interchange is also capped in the US, which is why rewards cards are almost always credit.
