Equity Research Analyst
Also called: research analyst, sell-side analyst, buy-side analyst
An equity research analyst covers a set of companies, publishing forecasts, valuations and recommendations. Sell-side analysts publish to clients and are measured on relationships and accuracy; buy-side analysts write only for their own fund. The profession shrank materially after MiFID II forced research to be paid for explicitly, with coverage of smaller companies thinning most.
